NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling)

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) functions under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Open Basic Education (OBE) Programme.

We at OutReach Academy - NIOS Coaching Center give coaching for children below 14 years of age with special needs and for adolescents above 14 years who are drop outs from formal education system due to various reasons under this OBE Program.

We give coaching for all three levels of OBE Program:

  • LEVEL A: equivalent to class I-III
  • LEVEL B: equivalent to class IV – V
  • LEVEL C: equivalent to class VI – VIII

The Open and Basic Education Programme has been recognized by the Government of India as equivalent education to that of the formal school, for purposes of further education and employment.

Secondary Course

Secondary Course is equivalent to the Xth standard.

Senior Secondary Course

Senior Secondary Course is designed for those who have passed the Xth standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board and would like to continue their education towards a Senior Secondary Certification, equivalent to XII standard.

OutReach Academy give training for children with special needs through Pre-NIOS programme. Children’s admission will be based on assessment to find their abilities and skills in learning areas based on NIOS Curriculum.

OUTREACH ACADEMY - NIOS COACHING CENTER

(Making an inclusive learning society)

OutReach Academy works with a mission of creating an inclusive learning society for learners who have several challenges in formaleducation. Children with special needs are more vulnerable as they lack autonomy for learning in formal education. With NIOS such children have more freedom with flexible curriculum which is relevant and need based.

OutReach Academy have a team of trained and dedicated faculty who give individual attention to each student and motivate them. We teach the way the students learn. Only after the student attains mastery over a content or skill our teachers move to the next topic.

We give coaching for students with specific learning disabilities in subject areas like basic reading, writing and arithmetic. We train them in their study habits, time management and presentation skills so that students will appear for the exams with more confidence.

With our expertise in remedial teaching over years, students who enrol with us for NIOS coaching can appear for OBE Curriculum and in due course to Secondary and Senior Secondary course. We strive to develop in each child self-esteem and our objective is bringing up independent and self-reliant individuals in society.

Academic year 2020 - 2021

Both the students were admitted for remedial sessions at OutReach with deficits in academics, especially Maths.They are students with seizures and under constant medication. It was a challenging task for our team in teaching them academics and our team of faculty with their perseverance and hard work, saw considerable changes in Varuna and Somu. We gave the students time for self-correction and gradually they started coping with the academics and after 2 years of remedial support from our team, they were ready for mainstreaming. But, their parents felt that, formal schooling will not suit their wards as school environment don’t support students with learning disabilities.

It was then, we started accommodating students like Varuna and Somu, into our NIOS Coaching. They were admitted for LEVEL A, Open Basic Education, and were taught 05 subjects with 2 languages and 3 subjects. Initially, students had difficulty to manage all 5 subjects and home works, gradually they were able to cope with the studies and we helped their parents to motivate them at home and shared few strategies to improve their study skills at home.

By the end of the year February 2021, they appeared for the LEVEL A exams and scored well, in all 05 subjects. It was a happy moment for all of us at OutReach to see our students overcoming their challenges and moving to the next level.

Academic year 2021- 2022

For the academic year 2020/21, we had 2 more students admitted for NIOS. Apart from our previous year students who completed their LEVEL A, The twin brothers, who were attending our remedial sessions during summer classes and then during their half yearly and quarterly school vacations. As, their parents saw considerable improvement in reading, writing and arithmetic, as well as the students got inspired from the other two batch mates and they were willing to study through NIOS board than formal schooling. To our surprise, parents of twin brothers visited us and said, as their wards are willing to study NIOS, they requested us to admit them for LEVEL B and all the four students started learning and it was a good experience to see students embracing their differences and helping each other to learn.

By the end of the year February 2022, all 04 students appeared for the LEVEL B exams and scored well, in all 05 subjects. It was a happy moment for all of us at OutReach to see our students helping each other in overcoming their challenges and moving to the next level.
